The region has many things to offer its visitors! Visit the castles of the Bavarian fairy-tale king or discover the small villages which have made the foothills of the Alps famous all over the world. Alongside the historic architecture there are also many sacral buildings in the area which are always worth a visit. Embedded in the rich greenery of our garden, with the Hohen Schloss in the background, the Villa Fantasia is the perfect base for enjoying Füssen and its surroundings.

1. Linderhof Castle

The car journey via Reutte in Tyrol along the Plansee to Linderhof Castle is a dream landscape. You return via Ettal Abbey, Oberammergau and the Wieskirche in Steingaden.

2. Zugspitze

Drive to Garmisch and visit the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany with a view over more than 400 peaks. You can check out the view beforehand on the Zugspitze webcam: www.zugspitze.de

Art, culture and museums - the Bavarian capital

3. Munich

Take the train to Munich, where there are countless leisure opportunities. Not just a visit to the Oktoberfest, but also visits to the numerous museums, such as the Deutsche Museum or the Pinakothek der Moderne (Gallery of Modern Art) make the trip worthwhile. Or check out the Viktualienmarkt, relax in the Olympic Park or enjoy a culinary delight in the Hofbräuhaus – there’s something for everyone.

4. Chalets & Lakes

Walk from Hotel Fantasia through the Faulenbach Valley to the idyllic Alatsee (Lake Alat). A steep uphill climb takes you to the Salober Alm, where you can get something hearty to eat. You can then return to Füssen via Weißensee. Walking time: approx. 4 hours

5. An alternative way of seeing Neuschwanstein

Walk from the castle car park via the Pöllat gorge to Neuschwanstein Castle. Then you go downhill to the crystal-clear Alpseeto Schwansee. Here too, it’s advisable to take your swimming things.
Total time: 4.5 hours

6. Eisenberg Castle Ruins

Drive to Eisenberg. From there, you can climb up to the Eisenberg and Hohenfreyburg castle ruins (approx. 1 hour). From there, you have a grandiose panoramic view. You can enjoy a bite to eat at the Schlossbergalm. A playground and animals to look at are ideal for families with children.

7. Tegelberg

Take the cable car to Tegelbergand enjoy beautiful views of the Alps, Lake Forggen and Neuschwanstein Castle. Athletic mountain climbers can also get up there in 2.5 hours. At the bottom station, there is a large playground with summer toboggans and lots more.

8. Bike tours around Lake Forggen

Grab your bike and ride the 34 kilometres around Lake Forggen. You can also take a short cut by jumping on the ferry.
Or take a boat tour. Take your swimming things with you!

9. Breitachklamm

It takes an hour to get to Oberstdorf and walk alongside the wild water of the Breitachklamm. The Alpine mountain scenery there is worth the trip!

10. Lindau on Lake Constance

In 1.5 hours, you can drive through the Allgäu to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance. A promenade for strolling, boat trips and the view of 3 countries with Italian flair are a fantastic experience!
